Chris Weitz responds to ‘Nude’ Scene

Friday, July 31st, 2009

This just in from Summit/Chris:

Dear all,

I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the
Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a
dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’s
such a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the
look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in
the book! — fully clothed.

best,
Chris Weitz

For the record, he had me fooled xD

Stephenie Gets Her Own Comic Book!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

It turns out that Stephenie Meyer will be getting her own comic book, based on her life, to be part of the Female Force comic book series! Reelz Channel has an article about this.

The creative force behind The Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer has been selected for membership into a very exclusive club. Joining the ranks of Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Princess Diana, Meyer will be immortalized in the comic book series Female Force.

The bio comic will examine Meyer’s rise to popularity with the Twilight Saga novels, the movie franchise, and her plans for the future. We have it on good authority that the story will be narrated by a very recognizable and iconic vampire. (We’re guessing it won’t be Lestat.) An alternate 40-page collector’s edition will also include a history of Forks, Washington.

Bluewater Productions, the publisher behind the Female Force series, aims for the comics to offer “a broad examination of strong and influential women who are shaping modern history and culture.” Stephenie Meyer’s comic book treatment will “tell her story in a very fun, respectful, and unique way,” says Bluewater’s President Darren G. Davis.

Wow. That’s pretty cool, yet insane at the same time…

The first day of TwiCon 2009 was yesterday in Dallas, and 33 TV News has some coverage.

Edward On Vampire Issue Of EW

Friday, July 31st, 2009

This week’s issue of Entertainment Weekly is all about vampires, and Edward made the cover. The issue hits newsstands today and features an interview with Stephenie!

Vampires are such versatile symbols now that they can express both conservative and liberal views. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels are steeped in her Mormon values. But True Blood speaks in part for gays and, as Ball puts it, “eight years of institutionalized demonization of pretty much any group that wasn’t on the bus with Mr. Bush.”

It may come as a surprise to learn that Meyer – reigning queen of pop culture’s vampire coven – has an uneasy relationship with them. Back in 2003, when she was writing the first draft of Twilight, she refused to show it to her husband. “I was embarrassed,” she said. “It was about vampires.” In fact, last year, she told EW that her great wish was to reclaim some time to write something new. “Look, I’m not just a vampire girl,” she said emphatically. “I can do other worlds.”

Tonner Doll Company was the first collectibles outfit to recognize the potential of the Twilight franchise and (along with some prodding from Dread toy junkies) quickly jumped at the chance to bring this world of supernatural beings into their family of licenses. To date only Edward and Bella have been realized in doll form, but as the Dread crew closed up shop at San Diego Comic-Con, our excellent Tonner friends flagged us down for a sneak preview of what’s to come.

Say hello to James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre, soon to be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard, however)!

Melissa Rosenberg Reveals Victoria Scene In New Moon

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Melissa Rosenberg spoke to MTV about a cool scene involving Victoria in New Moon.

“There is something I just love with Victoria,” Rosenberg told us at Comic-Con, discussing her script for November’s “New Moon.” “It’s very fun to write the evil vampires — or it was fun to write James.”

With Cam Gigandet’s ruthless tracker gone for the sequel, Rosenberg instead found herself sinking her screenwriting teeth into Lefevre’s vengeance-minded vamp. “In the book, that was about Bella’s point of view,” she explained, admitting that keeping the events of the “Twilight” films to what Kristen Stewart’s character can see is a difficult task. “You can’t violate that to see what Victoria is up to.”
