Jackson and Ben Barnes Were Almost Edward
The Lex has shared some interesting news with us from the Pheonix TwiTour that is going on right now! Apparently Jackson Rathbone was one of the contenders for the role of Edward, along with Ben Barnes and Shiloh Fernandez!
So TwiTour Day one…wow…just wow. Cool new stuff we learned:
1. Mike Welch can play the drums and do comedy song routines from Dreamgirls to Queen. He’s also an incredible backup dancer.
2. Catherine Hardwicke said that the 4 finalists (who she called bachelor 1, 2, 3, 4) for the part of Edward Cullen were Jackson Rathbone, Ben Barnes, and Shiloh Fernandez. She said to watch for Shiloh because she predicts that he’s going places.
3. Catherine said two Twilight stars (one male and one female) have auditioned for her version of Hamlet.
4. Edi Gathegi was chased around the New Moon set by styrofoam green cows that were then replaced by CGI wolves when doing the wolf attack scene. He said it’s hard to keep a straight face when you’re being chased by green cows.
5. Edi just saw New Moon in a private movie theater with Stephenie Meyer and said he was nervous seeing the movie with Stephenie and he’s always nervous about seeing himself on film. Said the movie is fabulous, and amazing.
6. Gil Birmingham on acoustic guitar at 12:30AM is so worth staying up for. His repertoire runs from blues, to light rock, to a Mexican sound that then blends into folk. And, oh yeah, the man can sing!
Okay I’ve never heard of Shiloh Fernandez but he’s pretty cute xD
Still, I’d pick Rob any day. =]

Personally, i think both these guys look the part of edward better than Rob does. but the question is could they act well enough to make you think he’s edward (not really decided whether Rob can). As you can tell, I’m not the biggest fan of Rob, but he’s not horrible. However, I really am glad Jackson isn’t edward. Personally, I liked him in the show Beautiful People, but Twilight is not his thing. I personally don’t like him as either jasper or edward… oh well 2 late now

I had a huge crush on him when Prince Caspian came out, and I still do.
But you gyus have to admit, if Edward had been any one of these guys, we would be drooling over them just as much as Rob. You can’t deny that. But then again, I only see Rob as Edward.

Thanx for saying I have my opinion but honestly speaking most fans are super young and don’t have a good idea of what real romance is like… If u compare rob to any other actor in a romance flick you’ll notice that he’s very bland in his acting.

Most of the people I know that love the series are between the ages of 18-45. It has such a broad range, you can’t just say its all young fans, because its NOT.

Twlightaholic… Those of us that say things like what I say are looking at it realistically. I never said there wasn’t an older audience, but since this movie came out the majority of the fan base is middle and high school kids. I’m not saying you shouldn’t respond to what ever I say but do you really want to be going back and forth with this is? It will be the never ending argument between fans of the series and fans of the movies.

Actually the majority of Twifans is not just teens, that is what they targeted the books for and I read the biggest Twilight fansite is actually Twilightmoms.com. None of my teen friends,like Twilight, they don’t hate it, but they are not huge fans like I am, their older siblings/parents are ironically.

I agree with Sheila…..Twilight was FAILURE. and yet I have seen the movie over 10 times. But everytime I go backa and watch it, the movie gets worse and worse.
This is why I think Twilight sucked:
1. Blue tint. UGH! I hated that blue tint! Got on my freakin nerves.
2. Length. The movie should’ve been longer cuz it seemed very rushed and choppy. The move didn’t flow. It was like Bella and Edward fell in love too quick in the movie. One day they barely know each other, then the next they’re goo goo about one another. The movie didn’t have the little things that makes you wanna squeel! Like when Edward asked Bella if he could drive her Seattle. how hard is it to put that into the dang movie??
3. The makeup. The vampires looked like clowns. In one scene Edward looks plae, and then in the other h doesn’t even look like he’s wearing makeup! You could see the contacts in their eyes, and their ears, hands, and neck would look red, while only their faces were pale. And do not get me started on the red lipstick…
That’s not even a start how frustrated I was with Twilight. It was really messy. And the thing is, my heart was aching for a really good movie. Twilight has a lot of great potential to be a wonderful movie. The things that make Twilight so special were left behind. Like the funny lines or things that happen in the book. One thing that I loved was the characters. They were portrayed really well. Other than that it sucked. but for some reason I don’t regret that it was made into a movie.

i feel like it should get remade in the future hopefully whoever gets the script next time will make it into the movie it should’ve been.
and you know what your right Sia.. its a shame though rob would look better if he took care of himself and didnt look like he woke up drunk every morning lol

But by the time they make a remake, Jackson & Ben will be way too old for Edward, especially Ben who is already too old for Edward. I do agree that the Twilight movie could have been alot better than what it was. It should have been longer to really capture the romance between Edward & Bella. It did feel choppy and rushed. I really think Twilight could make a really excellent film if made by the right people. Hopefully New Moon will be better. But anyways if they do make a Twilight remake, I hope it’s like 20 years from now and not like 10 years from now. That would be pretty dumb remaking a film that’s not that old. No I don’t think Twilight was a bad movie. I have a love and hate relationship with it. It was between bad and good so I’m gonna say it was ok, but then at the same time I have moments when I’m like OMG I love it. But I just feel Twilight wasn’t brought to the level it should have been.

I’m so glad Ben Barnes wasn’t picked for the part. He still has to do a narnian movie and he was committed to that first. I agree with alot of people, Ben would have been too old to be in Twilight, seeing as hes in his 20s.
