I don’t think I would. Bella’s situation was unique in that she basically found her soul mate. Unless something as fantastical as that happened to me, I doubt it. I wouldn’t want to live past all my loved ones.

This is a really hard question because you never know what the future holds, or how you will feel in a hundred years or two hundred years or a thousand years, i know its kinda sad but what if you fall out of love? That and I don’t like the idea of drinking blood, so I think I’d have to say no…

If it was for real love then yes i could do the same. But i would have know with every inch in my body that it was for true love. There would be a lot of sacrifice, especially giving up a family i hold dear. The Immortality holds no bearing though, because why be immortal and watch your family pass you over the years and have no one there with you be there to help you cope with it.

Forever is a very long time. but if I loved someone as deeply as Bella loves Edward, then sure I would probably give it up. I would really miss sleeping!!

Yes, because I really have nothing to leave behind. All that would matter was to be with the one I truly loved. As long as I got to spend eternity with the one I love, immortality would be sweet instead of bittersweet.

No, I don’t think I would become immortal so I could be with the one I loved forever…but on the other hand, if it was something like I had to become immortal in order to save the one I loved…definitely - even if it meant drinking blood for the rest of my given days.

I think it depends on what the situation is. I mean Bella would do it anyday because she wanted to be with Edward forever, but If you’re doing it for someone who’s mortal, then I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t wanna put a burden on them like that and see them slip away while you can live forever. But I would totally do it if I was in the same position as her.

Hell yes I would. If I was in Bella’s position. I would miss my family and friends but for the love of Edward Cullen??? I would do anything to be with him. Not only because hes perfect in the looks department but he is also 100% beautiful on the inside as well. I would’nt worry because I would never be alone. If I really loved someone that much I would’nt even think twice about it.

Yes, I would because I am the type of person that would go to the ends of the world for the person I loved most. If something was absolutely impossible, I would try my hardest for that person. So yes, yes I would indeed.

Anyway, my answer is…
yes and no. If I truly loved someone with a heart so much, I would miss my family the most. That would be hard. I am not in a position in which I have a divorced and remarried parents. I have a mother, father, and little sister. I am the role model. If I were to change, then i would have to think about the consequences because love goes through anything as variations. I would trade myself, but I would wait. Wait until the time was right. I would definetly trade myself for immortality, but with a wait. Because of my situtation.

I would definitely find it to be a difficult decision. Especially having to say goodbye and watch all the people you love and care about pass on. But if I had a love like Edward and Bella’s then I would definitely choose immortality.

I would love to be with someone like Edward but I’m not sure about being a vampire forever. Maybe it would get old after a while? Just since everyone you knew would be gone after a couple years. However, being in love that much would maybe make it worth it to be with them forever.

That’s a good question! I think that if it was true love and that I really cared for this person, then I totally would. I’m not gonna lie though, it would be super hard to say goodbye to my family and cereal [Haha.] but if I got my true love, I think everything would work out.

Yeah I think I would become a vampire for someone I love. If I had found my soulmate and he ended up being a vampire, I wouldn’t want to just live out my human life with him. I would definitely feel the way Bella does about having a teenage husband once I’m past… my forties? But I definitely think true love is something to risk your life or mortality for. It’s a rare thing.

Yes. It would be painfully hard to let go of my loved ones, but I would try to be like Bella and be strong about it that way I could still have contact before I “move away”. If it is true, real, devotional love, then yes I would. If not, absolutely not.

I think marriage vows are saying enough. You agree to spend the rest of your life with this person and enjoy new and exciting experiences with them so immortality would be a new an exciting experience and you have hundreds of years to spend showing your affection for eachother, learning new things, and experiencing exciting things. So with all of that I’d have to say definetly. If I can marry someone and really mean the vows then I can vow immortality for that person too. I only hope that I can find someone one day that I’ll love to that extent.

for ture love, love like edward and bella’s? yes. i mean with them i cant see not wanting to live, the positive things outweigh the negative things to me. i mean if they ever died i could find a way out like edward tried to do..but then the negative things are the thirst, the fire pain when changing, and limitless amount of time could also be negative. and i wouldnt be able to have kids :/ i mean bella didnt even really know she wanted kids until she was pregnant and she would have been giving that up. blehh im really indecisive about this..

I have to agree with the fellow comments up above… there are complications with being what if you fall out of love? what if you are like you dont want to be immortal anymore???
My own opinion would be if I was in Bella’s case and I found my Edward I would want to be with him forever. If my only case in doing that would be become a vampire like him I would do so. Not everything about being a vampire is awful. TEAM EDWARD ALL THE WAY. I like how they call them self “vegitarians” because I would have to agree I wouldnt want to take someone humans life away but If i was a vegitarian it could all work out. I know some people could read this and bash but its only an opinion.

i have to add, religion would go into the decision, if you believed that there was no heaven or anything after you die then dying would probably be much more scary therefore you would like the vampire idea better because of the not dying, even though, i think there is still death being a vampire because you really never know what will happen.but if you believed in heaven then it would be a much harder choice thinking you wouldnt get to go there or maybe you thought like carsile and maybe you would go, but not for a very long time.

i would go through many thoughts and it wouldn’t be easy one bit. then i’d go through emotional phases and what not. but i think i would at the end of the day say yes to immortality. it’s something i’ve thought about.. a little.. but i have. it’s something that would frighten me a bit and go against some morals of mine, society, and so on but.. i would. that’s just me, if i had to make the decision even just for me.. not for a person. if it came down to my “true love” i’d without a doubt do it.

Definetly, one of the greatest fears in my life is losing my boyfriend, not by falling out of love, but by death or some other tragedy. Immortality would take out alot of my anxiety. Also it would be amazing to see the world evolve, I’m in 3rd year anthropology and to be able to develop theories and maybe one day see them proved would be fantastic. So yes definetly, always with my true love and the incredible chance at knowledge is a no brainer in my eyes.

I completely agree with sam:). Religion and basic beliefs couldnplay a huge role in your decision. I myself and am a Christian, and as such, I believe in not only heaven, but the end of days. This makes me feel more towards staying mortal, because I would know I would end up with my soulmate in heaven, anyways.
I do admit, however, that if I were Bella, I wouldve made the same choice, mostly because I knew that it would hurt him so much to see me die.
If not for my belief, I definitely would be all for turning into a vampire!

I agree with sam:) I’m surprised no one has mentioned religion at all yet. In my case, since I do have a religion and believe in heaven and hell, I don’t think I’d be willing to make the sacrifice of my soul to be with someone. I don’t know; this question could potentially dig into some really controversial stuff here, but I’m glad this discussion is just for kicks and giggles.

No, I wouldn’t. We all live forever anyways- it’s just the old real estate saying, “location, location, location!” Although this world holds great beauty, it also holds great pain and it’s not where I want to spend forever- I have reservations elsewhere! Part of the beauty of our time on earth is change; death is a part of life. Though I want that true love in my life more than anything else right now, I wouldn’t be willing to trade my family, friends and the dream of having a family of my own one day.

If I take a step back and think rationally, i wouldnt. Why am *I* expected to make that sort of sacrifice, especially at the risk of possibly ruining my life forever? And it might not be true love, guys. It can be someone other than your boyfriends….and even for that, I cant be expected to make such a sharp decision at the snap of my fingers. Maybe I’m looking to deep into this, but saying yes to this question for superficial reasons, like being with edward who in reality has never and will never exist, is just stupid.

Havent you read: Breaking Dawn? Bella and Edward have a child of their own. A child out of the love that they have for eachother, even if she wasn’t planned. And Bella becomes a vampire not because she was dying, but because Edward refused to give her up. He wanted to be with Bella forever, and now they have a family of there own. Even if it’s jus a love story;)

I am sort of on the fence about it. I think that if it was a situation like Bella’s, where your soul mate won’t age with you, I most likely would. But it would be hard to imagine living forever. I mean what will the world even be like 100 years later, or 1000 years later. What if animals have died out by then and you are forced to go prey on people? You never know what could happen.

Immortality is definitley something to question. But if you were to spend forever with the one you loved then isnt it worth it? A little life time of happiness is sweet and I’d love that as it is. BUT if you had a forever beautiful life that was never ending then how can you deny that? 110% for me. No second thoughts at all; Bella was a smart girl.

I would do it hands down, 1000%. My hubby and I have already talked about how fabulous it would be to be able to live forever. I would be sad to lose my family and all that, but I would have my hubs forever. I sometimes get depressed that we are aging and fear and worry about what would happen in the future. If we were able to be Vamps, there would be none of that fear/worry.

The question is simple- how long do you plan to love your soul mate? If the answer is forever -then there is no question. That is if you believe in a soul mate- which I’m guessing you do!
Personally I would do anything - even give up a mortal life- to live forever as a vampire with my husband. We have been together going on 8 years -high school sweethearts- and our love just keeps growing. I would. I mean if I loved someone as much as Bella loves Edward then I think it would definitely be worth my mortality to spend the rest of forever with them. Yes, I would watch all of my loved ones die before me but time heals all wounds and my Edward, whoever that may be, would help me through it seeing as he had already gone through it himself. I also dont think it would be worth living if the one person I loved was going to live forever and I wasnt. I believe in soul mates and I would never be able to live without a soul mate. So the only possible solution would be to live forever and be happy and in love with the man of my dreams no matter the cost. Sounds crazy??

That’s really a complicated question. I’m kinda 50/50 on it. If i truly loved someone that much, and knew it’s was my soulmate, and he loved me that much too, then i probably would give up mortality. But the thing that gets me is i would not want to be alive forever. It would have to get boring. Watching your friends and family die without you. And plus, you wouldn’t have your chance at going to Heaven and meeting God. So honestly, i just don’t know. Haha.

Yes I would… I would do anything to be with the man I love. I would never want to be apart from a man I truly love. You can see that Bella and Edward showed true love in the movie and that is what the world is missing today. To care about that special person and want to keep them from danger shows love even if you are hurt but in the movie they both are willing it is not one sided. people today are just self centered and they don’t know what a true soulmate is. I would never want to lose the one I love.. never never never. That is what love is all about. never give up. Never lose that person you love.

It’s a tough decision. I don’t think I’d be able to because I do not want to live forever and I do not believe in soulmates. I’m not a pessimist, I just believe that there are multiple people in the world that one person is compatible with(why else would people cheat all the time).If I were in Bella’s shoes, I would have chosen Jacob (however I’m totally Team Edward)-I don’t forgive easily; and I would never give up my chance at some kind of Heaven.

That’s a way to show your undying love for someone is to immortalize love forever without the worry of who will be the first to pass on when the time comes - if the love between them is strong - I say do it - but for me that person has to someone very special to live for an eternity with and not regretting your decision after a few decades. I have two answers for this one.
a) I would absolutely do anything for my true love, whoever that turns out to be. I would die for them and do anything as long as I’m with them.
b) I, like others in the comments, am Christian and believe in Heaven and God. So, I know that if my loved one and I died, we would also be together eternally.
So, if my true love was a vampire then, yes, I would become a vampire too. But if we had the option to die together and go to Heaven then I would take that option.

I couldn’t. The beauty to life is the aging process. The thought of never growing old and watching everything I have ever loved and care about go on without me would be too much. I’d want to be a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and so on. Love, if its true, is eternal. If you love someone enough, you’ll let them go.
This is one thing that drove me nuts about the Twilight series(I love them.) Bella never embarrassed being human, being young, being so capable of anything. She, literally, went from being a loner to being a vampire lover. What about life? What about the normality? I don’t know…I guess I wouldn’t…I think.

Becoming an immortal has definitely been romanticized with the recent popularity of vampires. I think the idea of becoming a vampire and living forever sounds amazing when you first think about it, but then you realize what exactly it is you are giving up. I would have to agree with many before me when I say that it depends on who I am giving up my life for. If it is my Edward and I know he is it for me then absolutely. If it was a Twiverse or Anitaverse vampire or any vamp that still gets to keep control of who they are then yes, in a heartbeat. I don’t even have to be in love. I would have to be completely sure the other person wants me the same way I want them; like in ‘New Moon’ at the end Bella and Edward learn they literally can’t live without each other with a definite certainty. Otherwise I would have to say no. Living forever without someone else there for me to live with while watching those I do love die, it would be unbearable. I don’t know, really. If he was already a vampire, and I was totally sure of his love, maybe. But I’m a Christian so I believe in Heaven and all that, so I don’t know that I’d be willing to throw away my soul.
Also, am I the only one who doesn’t buy that Bella and Edward are in love? Please. Their relationship screams co-dependent and unhealthy. At a stretch, I’d be willing to believe Edward loves Bella, but Bella loving Edward? No no no.

In my opinion,vampirism symbolizes eternal life instead of death; like most assume. I would go to extreme lengths to be able to gather wisdom throughout the ages. Forever assisting the weak with my inhuman strengths. Traveling across the globe endlessly, always searching for my soul mate. The question says “become a vampire for someone you loved”, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they themselves are a vampire also.
If for some reason I had to choose between vampirism and my boyfriend’s life I’d choose the option to keep him alive, obviously. But he isn’t into the whole “vampire” thing so he probably wouldn’t stay with me (but I’m not sure). I’d still do it anyway because I love him and want him alive because he’s an amazing person.
But if he were also a vampire, I’m not sure. I don’t know how I would handle living forever and watching all my other loved ones die while I stay the same age and thirst for their blood. It would be something I’d have to think over for a very long time and have to be certain that he’s my soulmate. But if he is indeed my soulmate, then I’d do anything for him and would become a vampire with him.

Great idea, but difficult question to start with
I think for me it depends on the circumstances. I can’t give up my family too easy. So if I really truly love him andcon’t live without him I would probably consider it… but I think when there is another person involved (like our baby, who also is immortal) I wouldt doubt at al. But I would do anything possible to keep as close as possible to my ‘human family’ as long as they are around! I would try to stay with them … without too many explanations.
And if I truly love that person, and he does love me in the same way, I think eternity sounds great … but I also think it would be nice to have a way out … when you both want to go! But I don’t believe there is something possible like don’t love each other anymore … not with that kind of love! You don’t trade your life for anyone … it is THE one, the one you cant life without or breathe without!
I haven’t found that person yet … I hope some day I will … and laybe he is just human like myself and that would mean I don’t have too choose between mortal and immortal … The most important thing for me is to find someone who loves me for who I am and that I love him back!

If I was in the same exact situation as Bella, I would absolutely trade my life for immortality. If someone felt so strongly about me, was that protective of me, and wanted nothing more then for me to be safe and happy…I would do it in a hearbeat! If he is willing to do anything for me and wants to make sure I’m always happy, then I would want to trade my life to make sure I could always do the same for him. That’s true love and is exactly what relationships should be! To make sure you take care of each other and want the best for each other…that’s an awesome feeling!

Who really needs an excuse to choose immortality over mortality. Old age, illness and death are not exactly desirable to most people.
Vampires can die if they so choose, so it’s not like you’re stuck living if you do finally decide to end it after a thousand years or so.

Bella and Edward were really lucky to find each other, they are soul mates. It was true love from the beginning and it couldnt be erased through time as we all know…
If i loved someone that deeply, if i knew i couldnt be with them for more than my lifetime i would chose to become a vampire. With that choice there are many side effects, such as : Leaving your family behind, never seeing your friends again, Never having children, ect. ect.
If i was in love with someone but it wasnt deeply then i would pass all this by, i would find someone i didi love that much and have a happy human life

i think that if it was for someone i loved then yes because edward always says how lonely his life is and how lonely imortality is but if you have someone to share those long years with then it would be amazing.also i would have to be sure to myself that the person loved me and i them. so like bella and edward i would probably marry them first.also as im only 15 i would tell the peson thati wanted to live as a human for a few ore years like go to college and then uni because then i would have qualifications and would look a litte older so i wouldnt look as suspicious as i didnt age.

I think the general answer would probably be yes. But the answer varies amongst different people. Some might be scared to face the unknown but I myself would do it in a heartbeat. If I had a love with someone as true as Edward and Bella’s then I wouldn’t think twice about handing my life over to them. The main thing that would bother me though would be not knowing what I was capable of. I wouldn’t like being controlled by something and being able to snap at any moment. I cringe when I see people hurt animals or anything for that matter. And to vaampires that is exactly what humans are: animals. They are higher up than humans, stronger, have more intellect. I just think if I was a vampire that I would never be able to live with myself if I hurt another thing. I don’t think I could give up my humanity as easily as Bella did. I am too afraid of the unknown.

I can totally understand why Bella does it, I feel that is why the series is so popular, that young infatuation where “you would die without that other person” stage. If I was seventeen, yes, I could see myself doing it because at that age I couldn’t see the true depth of my actions. Now that I’m older, no, I wouldn’t. I have to much to lose and I know now how love changes, sometimes grows for the better, sometimes not. I can see having trouble with the vanity part of it, and it would be tempting, but I would miss y sleep, including the final one.

But, I definitely think that unless I met someone that I loved as much as Bella loves Edward, I would not give up mortality. I do have to say, though, that are there are some super awesome advantages to becoming a vampire. So, it might be tempting at some points.

I’m in two minds.
Love like Edward and Bella, and the other three Twilight couples can hardly exist.
As a matter of fact, if we take other Vampire stories into consideration - Stefan and Elena from the Vampire Diaries, or Lestat and Rowan from the Vampire Chronicles, it’s all about how vampires can be intensive lovers, who will do everything for you, protect you, comfort you - in a way mortal men can never.
However, if actually this situation arises, and an immortal beautiful devil stood before me, I would flip - not in love, but I’d totally be scared of him.
I wouldn’t want to give up my whole family for this one love. We maybe soulmates, but unless I have familial support, I wouldn’t ever do this.
But, of course, the question states if I’d do something like this, like Bella.
So, we assume vampires CAN fall in love [which obviously cannot happen in the first place) - and such devotion will be hard to resist, in this world where relationships are so fickle if I’m getting such love, I’m sure I’ll continue to crave for it, and want to stay with him.
I’ll be a vampire, ONLY, if the love is really irrevocable and I have famlily support.

A really hard question. One I have thought about though. The idea of a never sleeping kinda scares me, because sleep allows you to start over, and try again, after a bad day. In the long run though, I think that if I ever met someone as amazing as Edward, and we truely loved eachother to the point that it would cause physical pain to live without them, then yes I think I would gladly give up everything for them. My own Edward would be there to help me through my fears.

Honestly, i think the reason I love Twilight, and “bedward” so much is because I relate to Bella on a hugely personal level. I have loved how she has loved. I know how it feels to love someone so much that I would give up my future, my life, and everything they behold for them- because in my opinion niether would matter if he weren’t in it. I would feel terrible to watch all of my family die, to have to leave them and watch them dwindle. But if they were going to die anyway… I would want to be with them in there final moments, and know that they didn’t have to suffer living through my own death.

yes i would because living forever with the one you truly love is more than anything in life yes i would miss my family and friends but that would be the sacrifice i would have to make if i chose not to live in immortality than how can i grow old knowing that my true love is well and young i can never live with the pain.

Honestly, my answer would have to be no. Watching as everyone around me died would be terribly painful. I also think that I, like Rosalie, would be jealous of people for their ability to grow old with their loved ones, and change with time. Growing older and changing over time is an experience I don’t think I could ever give up without regret.

I believe that it would depend on how I saw the world around me. Would I want to grow old gracefully with the love of my life there to protect me? Or would I want to be an equal to my soulmate, an immortal like him? It all depends on the state of our world, whether I saw in the next few 100 years to be of devastation, being one to watch my old kind destruct their lives with war or mass global warming.
I doubt that I would like to be left immortal surrounded by chaos; the earth completely ruined by selfish humans of the future. (I’m being really inventive here )

If I had found MY Edward Cullen, then I wouldnt still be human
But, being only 13 years of age, I think I would wait a bit.
Yet another eason to envy Bella Swan (in the nicest way possible). She has THE best family ever, THE sexiest soulmate, and a best friend with a body to die/die/kill for (please delete).
I geuss my answer is: If I had found the one person I truly loved, would do absolutley anything for, then yes, because I would be happy. But having to watch your family grow old and eventually die, would be heartbreaking. Though you may have lost everyone else who loved you, at least you have one person who feels the exact same way you do about them.
I tihnk I would do wha Bella did, start a family before I turned, so then I could go through the experience of having something to take responsibilty for, to laugh with, cry with, shout at when they miss the curfew, all that.
Wow… Im 13 and I just explained my ‘alternate’ life. LOL!

Yeah, I would give up my human life for immortality. But if the person I love is 17 like Edward than I would wait until I’m 17. I would want us to be the same age(in a way). I would give up anything to be with the one I love.

If I ever had the connection that Bella and Edward have with someone I knew then yes. I would do it in a heartbeat. I could never be immortal - having everyone around me who I love die, watching all the pain and suffering in the world forever - unless I had someone with me who I loved with all my heart standing with me the whole time. If I loved someone, they would mean more to me than my life and I would value being with them far more than anything I could ever give up.

I have to admit though that I would have to think real long and hard about it if it really happened.
In the end though I am positivly sure that I would become an immortal.
Religion does also play a factor to me because I am a Christian and I do believe there is more for us after we die.

I would be willing to give up my immortality to be with the one I loved. I understand that by doing it, that meant I would have to give up my loved ones and never see them again, or do what Bella did and try to work on being able to see my father, but, I think that’s the price to pay to be with your loved one. I wouldn’t be able to give up my loved one. But, I could never do it if I didn’t have someone with me, holding my hand, guiding me along the way. I would never be able to just stand back and watch the ones I love and care about die and suffer. I wouldn’t be able to contain myself an hold back so I wouldn’t interfere. But, if I had someone to help me along the way, someone I loved, then, I think that I would be able to do something like that, or, do exactly that. If I had someone with me as I watched my loved ones and people I cared about die and suffer, I think that I’d be able to endure it if I knew that I wouldn’t be alone. If everyone I loved died, I think I’d be okay if I knew for a fact that that one special person in my life, the person that had given me the courage to become immortal, the person that made my decision to become immortal, I think that I’d suffer, but, move on in life, because then, I knew that I wasn’t all alone in the world. Someone else loved me and would stay with me until the end of time. So, to sum it all up, yes. I would give up my mortality to stay with the one I loved forever.

There’s lots of things to consider in this situation. If I had nothing whatsoever to live for then, I wouldn’t hesitate in telling Edward to bite me this instant. But I have lots of things in life that I would miss after becoming a vampire. Family and sleeping. Those are my biggest reasons. And secondly, I would never, ever feed off of humans, so that would mean that I’d have to feed off animals, and I don’t think that I could do that. I’m a serious animal lover. But on the other hand, I can really see myself living as a vampire; my number one reason being that I would much rather live my life at night and sleep during the day (that is if the Cullens could sleep). Simple as that. Always been a nightowl instead of an earlybird. Honestly, I just focus better at night. Or if I was Bella and I wanted to be with Edward forever, if I loved someone as much as she loves him, then I would consider it a major possibility. Now if I had to become a vampire to save someone I loved.. then bite me, bite me now. I would make that sacrifice for some that has truly captured my heart. Aside from that last point, it really would be a hard decision… so I’m not sure if I would give up my mortality.
