Halloween Costume Contest Winners Announcement
Winner: Anna Kate as Victoria
We chose Anna Kate because her costume was spot on, and doesn’t she sort of look like Rachelle and Bryce combined? Here is how she made her costume:
“I made the costume myself, the only things that I bought and didn’t alter in some way were my jeans, and the ring. My shirt I hand painted, and bleached, so it would look correct. The spike bracelet was made out of one spike bracelet, that had three rows of spikes on it, so I cut it up so it would only have one. The gauntlet on my wrist I made out of stock leather, then I dyed it, and hand tooled it to put the pattern in it. The glove I cut up from an antique glove that I already had. The biggest part of the project was the cape. Now because real sheepskins are really expensive, and I am a poor teenager, I decided not to get a real sheepskin, but instead buy a sheep wool rug at Ikea for $30. Then I cut it up to look like a skin, sewed the edges so it wouldn’t fray, then sewed the shoulder ties on. My sewing machine was not pleased with me =P I’m naturally super pale so I didn’t need much makeup at all, and my hair is naturally that color, so all I had to do was curl it, and stick in some leaves.”

You did a very great job and you are very creative. You made big things out of much smaller thins. The fact that you made a rug into a sweater was amazing. I give you props.

I didn’t buy the shirt. I got a plain green t-shit, bleached it a few times to get it lighter, then made a stencil out of contact paper. Then I put the stencil on the shirt, and painted it! I think there is a place you can buy it online though… I was just too poor, and I like painting stuff.

Wow, hand-tooled leather?? I already thought it looked great, now it’s even more deserving knowing the work that went into it! Congrats, crafty girl! Not only do you have mad skills, but your hair is incredible (I can’t believe that’s your natural colour!). Clearly, you were MADE to wear this costume!

Annakate’s costume rocked. I was thrilled just to make the costume video. My husband was a good sport to even dress like Edward and then on top of it crawl up into the tree in our front yard. He has supported my crazy Twilight obsession b/c he knows it makes me happy. Yesterday was a great day for this stay at home mom, thanks to HGE for posting my picture! You guys rock!
