The Twilight Saga: New Moon Breaks All Midnight Box Office Records
“Summit has announced that The Twilight Saga: New Moon has officially set a new all-time midnight box office record, taking in $26.27M from 3514 theaters.”
This shatters The Dark Knight’s $18.4M midnight debut for a 3-day weekend. It also easily surpasses the all-time record for midnight showings which was held by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which took in $22.2M on a Tuesday night on its way to a 5-day weekend total of $158M. The Dark Knight went on to take in $67.17M that opening day, dropped 29.1% from Friday to Saturday to bring in another $47.65M, and ended with $43.6M on Sunday for an opening weekend total of $158.4M.

Also, I don’t think New Moon totally shattered Harry Potter. It was only four million. I’d say it shattered the Dark Knight though.

I am a HP fan too but…I’m sick of HP…the 6th movie was so horrible….and I’ve never said that about a HP film b4…

I went to the midnight showing and there were over 400 people there lines out the door around the building. It was the best movie ever now I can’t wait till Eclipse I wonder if they are gonna show Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse in one night that would be cool.

The twilight saga has some pretty intense fans… i don’t know if it’ll necessarily get one of the highest grossings though. it seems like most fans are so obsessed they cant wait. after that its just the people going to see it one more time …or like 10

The haters can bash the Saga and Twihards all day long, but with numbers like that, we have to be doing something right
I think they’re just mad it’s a “teen” vampire flick that’s leaving the rest of Hollywood in the dust.
I am also huge HP fan, and I am hoping that these figures knock the HP filmmakers to their senses and give them some incentive to make better movies. The 6th was at least better than OotP and GoF (bleh!), but on the whole that series has gone steadily down the tubes. A major tragedy considering how outstanding the novels are.

oh, and btw…. I FREAKING LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the ending was a tad bit upsetting, but i’ll get over it. it was 100000000000000000000 times better than Twilight. Everyone’s acting was stepped up (and it helped that there were half naked guys running around the whole movie… hehe) I saw it at midnight and today i’m going ot a 4:00 matinee and again at 7:00! SOOO EXCITED!! still can’t get over how amazing it was!

It was without a doubt the most amazing movie I’ve ever seen. Amazing.
Those Professional paid critics hate everything except for obscure indie movies that nobody’s seen anyway. Who cares what they think? They didn’t even read the books.

I find the midnight total to be really amazing. The other two films (Dark Knight and Harry Potter) were summer releases, and no one had school the next day.

this movie was soo much better than twilight and it had a better budget too. This movie totally changed my perspective of Jacob. I was team edward but now i see jacob’s side more. =] well done.

does this also count the people who saw it at the nordstrom premiere? because i saw it yesterday at 930 before the midnight people and it was still crazy, they had soo much security and soo many theaters played it for the nordstroms people.

HOLY CRAP! The movie was soooooooo amazing! And I’d like to say… There was an Eclipse movie poster in the theater I went to for the midnight showing! It was kinda a wtf moment, but still! There was an Eclipse poster!

Midnight showing was insane. I live in a really small town and it was shown in all six theaters and each was sold out. And the movie was AMAZING!! So much better than twilight and was so close to the book.

Taylor was great as jacob. The whole cast did good. acting was a lot better than in twilight. and there were a lot of really funny lines and direct quotes from the book. it was so great! ahhh its sold out for tonight but i can’t wait to go again.

I JUST SAW THE MOVIE AND I FREAKING LOVED IT. HOLY CRAP IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER THEN TWILIGHT!!!!!!
There were like 5 year olds in the theatre- wow. Oh and twimoms- And A LOT of guys- which surprised me.
What bugged me the most was how people screamed for Taylor more then they screamed for Rob. They only screamed for Rob once and that was at the very last line of the movie

Taylor was an amazing Jacob,
The whole cast was overall better. I loved Mike and Jess in this one. Alice was adorable as usual.
AND THE AWARD FOR MOST IMPROVED GOES TO- KRISTEN STEWART. I applaud her acting in this one. It was a billion times better then in twilight.
Edward`s sparkling looks SO much better!
New Moon dominates over Twilight. They don`t even deserve to go in to the same category- that`s how much twilight sucked compared to this movie. I loved it.

THIS MOVIE WAS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MOVIE I”VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!!! i love it so much. i cried when he left her though. rob was Ahmazing throughout the movie!! (:waaaaay better than twilight and i will definitely see it again soon. im keeping my ticket and hanging it on the wall.

Honestly The Best Movie, I Wasn’t Disappointed At All. The Chemistry Between The Actors Was Amazing And I Felt Every Emotion As It Passed. I’m Not Surprised It Set A Rcord, My Friends And I Have Seen It Multiple Times Already, And I Plan To See It A Few More Times In Theaters. I’m Super Excited About Eclipse, Which Is Set T Release On June 30th 2010. If It’s Anything Like New Moon It’s Definatley Going To Be A Record Breaker. Can’t Wait!! <3 TEAM EDWARD <3
