Taylor Lautner Cast as ‘Stretch Armstrong’ in Upcoming Franchise

Universal has just cast the 17-year-old Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner to play title character Stretch Armstrong based on the Hasbro toy. The studio is giving Stretch superhero powers in the new 3D franchise that is scheduled for release in 2012. Universal Pictures Chairman Adam Fogelson and Co-Chairman Donna Langley think Lautner is “the real deal” and are undaunted by all the other projects which Taylor also is launching, including the Max Steel franchise at Paramount and the 3rd and 4th installments of the Twilight Saga for Summit Entertainment, and other films. “In the past two years, Taylor has emerged as a real star at the global box office. He brings the perfect balance of energy and athleticism to the role of an unlikely super hero with a fantastic super power,” said Langley. “We couldn’t be more pleased that he has agreed to be our Stretch.”

Wow he’s making some odd choices for film roles. Seems he’s definitely going to get typecast in the action/adventure roles.

I wonder if he’ll be wearing the little black speedo and going blonde? LoL

I don’t think its a good career move to get stuck into another franchise. He needs to get out and do some serious, indie movies…something the shows his acting skills and perhaps a different side of him off.
Well, the best of luck to him, anyways,

sigh, um taylor’s great. I just can’t help wishing he’d pick a little better roles, he’s going to be typecast. At least have a wide range of different roles, if he’s already doing to make two action movies after kid’s toys, his career might not end up so great:( Taylor! I just know on those movies they focus more on the effects over script/story

i’m sad….don’t get me wrong i’m glad for this guy, but probably he’s only being hired in these movies because of his “body transformation”, and not because of his acting skills, he’s talented! so he should do better than this! otherwise people are not gonna see him as a serious actor
