CNN: Chris Weitz Talks ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ DVD

CNN: For the DVD, what do you think the fans will appreciate the most?

Chris Weitz: What they’ll appreciate most is certain scenes that didn’t make it into the film. … There’s basically more Bella [Kristen Stewart], there’s more Edward [Robert Pattinson], there’s more Jacob [Taylor Lautner], and it’s often sort of more extended versions of scenes where things are discussed at greater length rather than entirely new scenes. I think there’s a lot of good stuff in the movie for fans, and at the same time we didn’t want to get rid of any of their favorite scenes.

CNN: At the time the movie came out, you said you were hoping to do the commentary with Pattinson and Stewart. What happened?

Weitz: They blew me off! (laughs)

CNN: Those young actors.

Weitz: I have to say, they had a lot on their plates … and there came a day when it was just me in a room, and I said, “I don’t want to do this alone,” so we managed to get my editor [Peter Lambert] on a satellite linkup, and we watched the movie together. And I think that it’s frankly rather amusing, because we have a joshing relationship, whereas it may have been a bit more stilted had it been the kids and me, because they’d have to say nice things about me all the time.

I can’t wait; I love their comments on filming. I do wish Rob and Kristen could have done it; the one with Catherine Hardwicke on the Twilight DVD was hilarious.

But in that picture, what on earth is Kristen wearing? I usually love her outfits but lately she’s been a little…eh…but this is…wow. What the heck happened? Why???

Anyway, looking forward to the DVD of NM. I don’t know which version to buy!

  2. WOOOOW Says:

so kristen and rob aren’t on the commentary ? Wow, and that’s what i was looking forward to most .

  3. Dreama Says:

I still don’t know which version to buy!!! Does anyone know if there’s going to be a DVD with the digital copy like they did for Twilight??

  4. caren Says:

    Anna,
I agree, not sure what Kristen was wearing…and did you notice the yellow pants on Chris?

  5. Lily Cullen Says:

    Anna and Caren,

Yep, thinking the same thing. What is she wearing? And Chris, orangy-yellow pants, seriously?

On a non-shallow note… only 25 more hours until the DVD release!

  6. AP Says:

I’m just waiting to see if Slades’ Edward and Bella is as awkward and lifeless as Weitz’s Edward and Bella. Sad but I won’t be buying NM. I still think it was awful.

  7. AP Says:

Btw Summit is just AWFUL at promoting Remember Me. It’s not bad enough the hired the most imcompetent people to market that film, Now they’re releasing & throwing NM DVD parties on the second week of the film’s release. I mean Seriously!

  8. KissMeI'mIrish Says:

Two hours until I get my dvd!!! Omg!!!
I wish rob and kristen were on the commentary x x

  9. sam:) Says:

AP why are you commenting on here? it is a fan site for fans :)

  10. Riley Says:

so is the DVD with the eclipse sneak peek the same sneak peek we saw like a week ago?

  11. The Avatar Says:

AWWW I wish they were doing the commentary. They were on the Twilight commentary with Catherine, right? I remember Rob talking about the bouffant that he has. It was quite hilarious.

And as weird as it is, Anna, I sort of like Kristen’s shirt. LOL It’s so bold.

  12. tilly Says:

I’m a fan of twilight but I agree with AP. Chris made them lifeless, and dumbed them right down, so it was definately a tween movie,. Really hope slade adds more conversation and makes them more mature.
