More Tricks and Treats In Store for Viewers this Halloween

New York, NY – October 23, 2009 – MTV unleashes insane musical mayhem along with a sneak peek at an exclusive clip from “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and commentary from cast members in the network’s first-ever Halloween special, “Ulalume: Howling at New Moon.” The one-hour program, premiering on MTV at 9pm ET/PT on Friday, October 30, 2009, will feature explosive performances by Paramore, AFI, Dead By Sunrise and Kid Cudi as they rock the stage from MTV’s Ulalume Halloween Festival, hosted by tattoo vixen and star of L.A. Ink Kat Von D. The show will also air on MTV2 at 10pm ET/PT, and on mtvU, MTV’s 24 hour college network, at 11 pm ET/PT.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” cast members will take part in the special with Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed kicking off the TV program from one of the most feared haunted houses in North America. Fans will salivate as Ashley Greene dishes on some of the rumors that have been swarming for months. Additionally, during the Halloween special, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will introduce an exclusive, sneak-peek clip from Summit Entertainment’s highly-anticipated film “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which arrives in theaters on November 20, 2009.

“Ulalume” is the title of a poem by 19th century poet Edgar Allen Poe which possesses a rhythmic sound and repetition that gives the ballad a musical quality, inspiring the festival name.

Beginning Monday, October 26, 2009, fans can head to www.Halloween.MTV.com for a first look at some of the killer performances from the “Ulalume” festival, behind-the-scenes clips, and photos before the special airs on October 30, 2009.

New York, NY/London, England – October 7th, 2009: MTV will host the exclusive on-air and online world premiere of the new Death Cab for Cutie music video “Meet Me On The Equinox” on Wednesday, October 7th at 8:00pm EST on MTV and MTV.com. The video will debut on MTV Hits, mtvU & MTV Tr3s at 9:00pm EST, and it will make its AMTV / AMTV2 debut starting at 3:00am EST on Thursday, October 8th. The first single from The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, “Meet Me On The Equinox” will premiere on MTV International channels and stream on MTV websites across the globe as Twilight fans gear up for the hotly anticipated release of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” film next month.

“We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series, and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters,” said Death Cab for Cutie bassist Nick Harmer. “This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film. It just seems a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We are not only proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy but also honored to join so many other fantastic artists that have leant their amazing creativity to this soundtrack.”
The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is set to release on Monday, October 19th. The Twilight Saga: New Moon arrives in theatres on Friday, November 20th in the US and UK.

“The whole idea behind the video is that this house that we’re in, this crazy ski lodge of a building here, it’s going to get cut together with scenes from the film, sort of like it’s a place that might be in Forks, sort of a place that might be next door to Bella’s house or something,” DCFC guitarist Chris Walla told MTV News. “All the light stuff that’s happening through the windows, it’s the ‘day-turning-into-night-turning-into-day thing,’ the idea is that it’s supposed to look like a time-lapse thing, only it’s not actually a time-lapse thing, and it’s quite a trick.

Spunk Ransom Is Born
In one of his first interviews for the “Twilight” franchise, MTV News had nearly an hour alone with the soon-to-be A-lister on the set of the film. Among the many questions we brought him was: “What do you think of your nickname RPattz?” He responded in his usual charming, rambling manner, insisting that he wanted a new nickname: Spunk Ransom. The term has stuck, been officially defined, yielded some very cool “Twilight” merch and is reportedly the easiest way to get a smile out of Rob — er, Spunk — if you should ever meet him.

Name Those Fans
Once upon a time, an epic battle raged between Twilighters and Twi-Hards over which was the proper name for the fanbase. Since we’re peacemakers as well as journalists, we held an epic poll to settle the matter once and for all. Rob, Kristen and the other stars of the series announced the results — and it’s been Twilighters ever since.

Don’t Count Out Taylor
Barely a month after “Twilight” opened at the top of the box office, young Taylor Lautner had become the J.D. Salinger of the series — disappearing from the spotlight and leaving many to wonder whether we’d see him again. Just when the consensus among fans seemed to be that his role would be recast with a more physically impressive actor like Michael Copon, we found Taylor at a tiny red-carpet event. Noticeably larger, he revealed that he’d been working out around-the-clock, was about to meet with “New Moon” director Chris Weitz and vowed to return as Jacob. Finally, “Twilight” Nation could breath a sigh of relief.

Brings back soo many memories. Good times, good times. =]

MTV has a new article discussing how some Twilight stars are using their newfound fame for a a good cause.

Ashley Greene for Do Something
Following in the footsteps of stars like Kristen Bell and Rachel Bilson, Ashley recently announced that she’ll be partnering with DoSomething.org to once again prove that she’s every bit as kind to those around her as Alice Cullen. “Giving back is very important to me — it’s why I originally got involved with DonateMyDress.org, and it’s what attracted me to Do Something,” Ashley told us about the launch of a to-be-determined social-action campaign with the site, which encourages people to help those around them in ways both big and small. “I am eager to use my voice to encourage young people to donate their time and support the causes they care about.”

Kellan Lutz for Boys & Girls Clubs of America
“I’m really into charity work. … Helping families and kids is something that I’m involved in, and it’s really near to my heart,” said Lutz, who urges his fans to visit the Boys & Girls Club site to make a donation. “Showing some love to kids, giving them a birthday and telling them that God loves you and it’s OK to have fun and smile. To give them a stuffed animal and watch them be happy. We have so much opportunity, in the end, to make a difference out there.”

Christian Serratos for PETA
A vegetarian since age 8, the girl otherwise known as Angela Weber can sympathize with the Cullen clan’s desire to be picky about what they eat. “I’ve been working a lot with PETA. I love what PETA does — they know what’s appropriate and what’s not,” said the actress, who has filmed videos with her dog Gorilla speaking out against fur, dissection of frogs and animal testing for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. “[Not eating meat] helps a lot of people. Like, people don’t understand that eating red meats can literally be dangerous. Stop eating the red meat and you’ll feel lighter and more harmonious.”
