Muse will not be on ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Soundtrack

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

“The news is surprising given the band is pals-y with Eclipse’s director, David Slade (he helmed loads of Muse’s early videos), and possibly pals-ier with Stephenie Meyer (there’s even a photo of lead singer Matthew Bellamy cozying up to Twilight’s dark-ish mistress on Muse’s official site).

“Oh, it’s nothing to do with Stephenie, she’s totally cool,” says Howard, beginning to explain how Muse have potentially broken their Twilight hat-trick. “It’s the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types, the non-creative types I suppose are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn’t work out.”

As for the original tune in question, which remains untitled, Howard says it would have fit Eclipse like Edward on Bella — even though it wasn’t directly inspired by the books or movies.

“It was a love song, so it’s a personal song, and it wasn’t really to do with the films. But it was sounding good,” he says.

Muse still plans to release it, says Howard, even if you won’t hear it on the Eclipse soundtrack. (Maybe you can just play it over the make-out scenes once the flick hits DVD.)”

This is really sad! Muse is one of my favorite bands, I loved having them on the soundtracks.

MTV: Justin Chon Interviews Muse

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Justin Chon got the chance to interview Muse at one of their concerts! They talk a bit about a possible song for the Eclipse soundtrack.

Ever since the earliest days of Stephenie Meyer dreaming about a clumsy girl and a pale vampire spending time together in a meadow, Muse have been there to serve as the “Twilight” author’s, well, muse. For proof, look no further than her acknowledgements in the “New Moon” novel: “And, finally, thank you to the talented musicians who inspire me, particularly the band Muse — there are emotions, scenes, and plot threads in this novel that were born from Muse songs and would not exist without their genius.”

Several years later, the band has appeared on both massively successful soundtracks to the first two “Twilight” films and share millions of fans with the vampire franchise. This past weekend, the British band returned to Los Angeles to headline KROQ’s annual Almost Acoustic Christmas festival. We snagged an all-access pass for “Twilight Saga” star Justin Chon — a huge fan of the band’s — and after the show he got them to open up about backstage antics, whether it’s better to be a rocker or an actor, and the song they’re hoping to get on the “Eclipse” soundtrack.

Jackson & 100 Monkeys On Eclipse Soundtrack?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

MTV talked to Jackson Rathbone and his band 100 Monkeys, and Jackson says that the band will be submitting songs for the Eclipse ST.

But as many Twi-hards know, Pattinson isn’t the only star from the saga with musical talent. Fellow vampire Jackson Rathbone has a band as well, 100 Monkeys, who were recently announced to be creating the soundtrack for his indie film “Girlfriend.” Not to be outdone by Pattinson, Rathbone shared with us that his group would also submit songs for potential inclusion on the “Eclipse” soundtrack.

“It’s been talked about, but it’s one of those things,” Rathbone said when asked if he had been approached to have songs on the previous soundtracks. “We’re going to be kind of giving some of our songs off of our upcoming album for them to see if they want to put on ‘Eclipse.’ ”

Earlier this year, Rathbone talked with MTV about having a song on the “New Moon” soundtrack.

“We’d love it,” Rathbone said. “[But] we’re not really pushing for it. It’s one of those things where if they want to put our song on the album, I’m not going to complain.”

Muse On Eclipse Soundtrack?

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

The Twilight films love Muse. =] In an interview with MTV, Muse’s Dominic Howard says that the band might do a song for the Eclipse soundtrack.

Now it looks like there’s a good chance the British rockers will be back for even more vampy fun on the “Eclipse” soundtrack. “It’s great to have the feeling of being a new band again in so many people’s eyes or minds … we might even do something for the third one,” drummer Dominic Howard told MTV News. “How about that for a scoop?”

Nothing is set in stone yet, but Howard noted that besides being a favorite of “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer, they also have an in with “Eclipse” director David Slade.

“[Slade is] kind of a friend of ours ’cause he directed about three or four of our videos for the second album, and he’s a really great video director,” Howard explained. “I know he did that really great kind of sick horror [film '30 Days of Night'] which was a bit of a vampire/zombie vibe, wasn’t it? So I think he’s a great director, and he’s quite a funny character as well. So, yeah, we might do something for him as well.”

Lee Safar Not On New Moon Soundtrack, Maybe Eclipse

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

A while ago we posted about Australian singer Lee Safar submitting a song for the NM soundtrack. Unfortunately she didn’t make the cut BUT she’s been asked to submit something for Eclipse instead!

In an e-mail statement Lee said:

Summit have advised my team that while they are more than impressed with the songs and with my fan base, the music that was submitted did not fit the overall tone of the soundtrack and won’t be used for “New Moon.” Summit continues to deal directly with my team, both here in Australia and in LA, and have requested that we submit a never-before-heard “Lee Safar” original track for the “Eclipse” soundtrack. To further solidify the relationship between the Lee Safar brand and the “Twilight” franchise, I have been booked for the Official “Twilight” Tour here in Australia next month and will be the only artist performing on this tour. I will be doing press, TV and radio alongside the “New Moon” stars Kellan Lutz, Chaske Spencer, Charlie Bewley and Tinsel Korey.
