Meese meets Stephenie
Thursday, July 16th, 2009![]() |
Just got an email from Catherine, someone who works with the band, letting us know that Meese had the opportunity to meet Stephenie at one of their concerts (currently touring with The Fray and Jacks Mannequin): “Hi guys, Nathan here. Now for something that you probably didn’t know about Ben and me. We’re into Twilight. Like IN TO it. It started when we were visiting our record label almost a year ago and they had a bunch of copies of the book laying around and I needed something to read on the airplane on the way back to Denver. Stephenie was AWESOME. We got to hang out and chatted for a while! If it wasn’t for the fact that we had to go on stage to play, I probably would’ve tried to talk to her all night.” Check out the full story at Meese’s official blog HERE and make sure to give them some HGE love in the comments! |
What Rivalry?
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009LOL. I thought this was really funny, I mean, so many people think there is some sort of rivalry when there clearly isn’t. Yay for Dan! For the record, the entire HGE staff LOVES Harry Potter. I couldn’t compare them if I tried…there is nothing much similar about them, except for all the amazing passionate fans!
Thank you, Jess, for the news tip!
Harry Potter & Twilight: Rival Teen Franchises
Friday, July 10th, 2009The Wall Street Journal has an article about the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises and how they target teens as their main audience. (Even though we know that there are many adults who are also huge fans!)

Hollywood marketing executives say that these days the “Twilight” franchise has influenced almost every studio marketing campaign that targets teenage girls. Some posters for the upcoming “Potter” film echo “Twilight”’s emphasis on romance. One features Harry and his crush, Ginny, gazing longingly into each others’ eyes, in a pose reminiscent of “Twilight”’s now-iconic image of its star-crossed lovers, Bella and Edward. Another shows Harry’s friend Ron with his girlfriend Lavender, while a jealous Hermione scowls in the background.
Warner Bros. and the team behind “Potter” say they didn’t take the “Twilight” franchise into account when designing their marketing materials for “The Half-Blood Prince.” Instead, they crafted a campaign aimed to resonate with previous “Potter” films, the executives and filmmakers say, dismissing the notion that there is a rivalry between the franchises among fans.
Just for the record, us at HGE are also huge fans of Potter. Eagerly awaiting the release of HBP! xD

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009|
Feltbeats.Com, a Tom Felton fansite, has a short interview where both Tom and Dan talk about Robert’s success and the Twilight franchise in general: “Felton added: “It’s just great to see someone who has been in Harry Potter have a life after it, and a much bigger one! So I wish him all the success and I will see Twilight soon, I promise!” Remember that he tweeted a few weeks ago about possibly being Riley for Eclipse. Stay tuned for updates on whether or not Tom joins us vampires. |
