Okay, so I was watching this show on MTV earlier today called Parental Control, and I saw something that made me really sad.

For those of you who have never watched it, it's basically a TV show where parents hate their daughter's boyfriend, and try to set her up with someone else. It's quite funny, actually.

Anyway, I was watching the part where the parents get to meet all the candidates for their daughter's possible new boyfriend. One of the questions they asked was: "What do you look for in a good girlfriend?" or something along those lines. And do you know what every single one of their replies was?

"Boobs."

I've never been so disgusted in my life. I actually thought that there might be some decent guys out there to date, but this made me think twice. I don't want to date some sick pervert who only likes me for my body.

Can someone please tell me that there are actual gentlemen out there? Please? I've lost all hope of getting a decent boyfriend.

I know. The guys in this world today seem to have the typical one-track mind. I think we have to look extra hard for somebody who will really care for us, and like us on a deeper level than looks.

Guys will be guys, though. Many of them think like that, and only they can change that about themselves.

But I am not giving up hope yet! In a world with 6 billion people in it, there's bound to be someone who'll treat me right, and love me for ME.

well, i think Nim pretty much said it all.

The program makers will be trying to shock, so even if they didn't script it, they'll have chosen really bad examples of guys.

I promise you, there are good guys out there. An example of this is actually a friend of mine. He was drunk at the time, but I think that people tell the truth more when drunk...we began a game of spin the bottle, and upon him being picked, he refused to even shake hands with the girl, saying he didn't want to cheat on his girlfriend, because she was sweet, and beautiful and he loved her. He spent the rest of the evening telling us all to make sure he didn't do anything that would hurt his girlfriend in any way.

So yes, there are great guys out there.

I agree... most of the guys are jerks, and on those so called "reality shows" most of the time (if not always) there actually IS a script they have to follow.

BUT however, there are good guys out there as well! Indeed my friends, it's not just a legend...
Of course, they often keep themselves hidden for no particular reason and rarely show their true nature, but, somewhere in the world, they really do exist!

good guys are out there. i know that for sure.

but there definitely are bad ones too... which of course are the ones i always find.

It's a delicate balance, but don't worry about it.
The human race must go on.
You'll find someone somewhere that isn't a total idiot all the time.

I had a friend who went on that show, she said the producers just told her to go in and act like a complete bimbo. They get paid like extras do. $200 to the person who acts like a jerk. It's not "scripted" but it is directed.

Other than that, there definitely are great guys out there. I remember being in high school. Boys sucked. But that's it, they were boys. It just so happens that most people don't marry their high school sweetheart - people change. Luckily for us girls, boys change, and at some point, you probably won't even see it happen they'll become men. I look at the "boys" that I went to high school with, married, with kids, happy, and I am baffled, because back then I would never have pictured them like this. Growing up has it's advantages.

Not everyone gets to be Bella, and not everyone finds an Edward. But we all get the same chances at happiness. And I am thankful I get to be Mindy and I found my Andrew.

thanks eveyone, i know now that the show is scripted. as for the guys, i can only hope that there will be some at my new high school that will be.... not pigs. haha.

Most MTV shows are directed.
There are jerks out there, but there is DEFENTLY also your own Edward (in my case Jacob d:) out there.

I agree. It's really awful how most guys think.

My friend got dumped by her boyfriend and a week later, he was with someone else who just happened to have bigger boobs.

After some interrogation, she got out of him that one of the reasons he broke up with her was because he wanted someone who was at least a D.

SO pathetic.

I agree that's just ugh. I would totally slap him. If you even come across that guy again, slap him!

If I ever found out that a guy only liked me for my body, even if he was the nicest guy ever (which he probably wouldn't be if that was why he lied me), I would dump him right away.

Really, looks are NOT everything.

I don't like it either.
Boys only pay attention to girls who look good (so also with big boobs and a big butt).
I really hate that, especially because boys don't really see me or pay attention to me, while I know I'm a nice girl.
Sometimes I really wished boys would look differently to girls, and not only pay attention to what they look like.
I know there are "good" boys around here, but they're hard to find. And if I come across one, I'm too shy.
I'm sure I'll meet someone eventually, but I think that will be when I'm in my twenties (when boys have matured a little).
