EW: ‘Eclipse’ Costume Trivia with Costume Designer

Robert Pattinson wanted to wear karate pants for the training sequence.
“So we got him some karate pants, and it’s like the crotch hangs down to the knees, and I just thought, Ugh. Who’s gonna go for this? Because everything has to be approved by Summit,” Monaghan says. “We took them in a little bit, and they loved the karate pants. Who knew? I was so surprised.”

Emmett wears lighter colors than the other Cullens to showcase Kellan Lutz’s muscles. “Absolutely,” Monaghan says, when asked if this theory about his Old Navy hoodie is correct. “I also knew that the focus was going to be on him and his chase with Victoria in the woods, so I just really wanted to make sure that he stood out amongst all the dark backgrounds…. You probably won’t notice, but I made a very conscious decision to have the Cullens move through the color palette. They’re in lighter colors when they first hunt Victoria. The next big scene, when they’re in their workout wear, they’re in sort of midtones. Then when they have the final battle, that’s when I put them all in black, because I wanted them to be more stealth-like.”

Rosalie’s wedding dress was the star of a deleted scene: For Rosalie’s flashback to the 1930s, Monaghan’s department both rented original period dresses and made two ensembles — the one she wore when she was attacked, and her wedding dress. “Unfortunately in the film, we only see her arriving at the door,” Monaghan says, of the latter’s entrance. “I’m not sure why the scene with her floating down the hallway was cut out — maybe it’s because the element of surprise had a stronger impact. They didn’t want us to know in advance who was coming to the door. But we made a silk train for her that floated down the hallway as she kind of hydroplaned down the carpet. . .

‘Breaking Dawn’ Part Two Release Date NOT Confirmed For Summer 2012
Posted by Nim • 6 Comments »

In June, Summit Entertainment announced that “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” will be released as two separate films, with the first part arriving on November 18, 2011. Though no release date for the second part has been announced, the conventional wisdom has been that the second part would follow in the summer of 2012.

Not so fast. Summit distribution chief Richie Fay told MTV News that no such decision has been made and that the studio is still exploring multiple release dates, not just ones in the summer.

“We’ve targeted a number of dates, and we have yet to determine when it will happen,” Fay said. “We haven’t even determined that it will be the summer. It’s still the source of discussions.”

Of course, studios always explore various release dates for pictures, especially established blockbusters, and the fact that Summit hasn’t committed the second “Breaking Dawn” to the summer season shouldn’t be mistaken for confusion or indecision within studio headquarters.

Melissa Rosenberg Shares information on ‘Breaking Dawn’ Films
Posted by Kimmy • 46 Comments »

We now know that the last album, “Breaking Dawn” will be divided into two films. Do you already know how you do it?
For me, there is a natural separation in the book. I do not know yet exactly when we will stop in the first film, but in the first part of the book “Breaking Dawn” Bella is human, just married and pregnant while in the second part is a vampire and a mother. So somewhere in this transition, there is a natural separation. But I do not know yet exactly where it will be. It works.

Will you keep the book of Jacob?
No, we will not keep. Eclipse is a good way to introduce the book of Jacob, because in this film, we begin to move away from the simple perspective of Bella. We will see that the newborns, the Volturi … we’re really starting to move away from its point of view alone. So in Revelation, having the vision of Jacob on what will happen almost naturally. We will also maybe you can share other points of view.

The last album is really darker, more violent and more adult than the other three books. Will you keep these aspects in the adaptation?
Yes, absolutely! I think we can make a film more adult, more violent and sexy, while remaining accessible to the youngest. In fact, I do not see gallons of blood everywhere, I do not think this is necessary. I find instead that show everything away the suspense, horror … I would prefer the way all this through Bella. Nevertheless everything is there, we are absolutely not shy from it all. We see for example the love scene between Edward and Bella, and the feathers will be at the rendezvous! (Laughter) As the scene of childbirth, which will be filmed as directed by the director. But we all agree that this scene appears in the film, and it is as close as possible to the book. He should expect a scene of horror!
